Your website is a very important tool to communicate to your customers about your business. Smart phones and tablets, provide consumers with instant access to information. The websites that show up most often on Google’s top 10 search page are ones in which the content is updated often, accurate and written well. These sites also have strategically considered key words for the purposes of search engine optimization (SEO).

How often you should update your website really depends the type and size of your business. At a minimum be sure your website has up-to-date accurate information such as your current phone number, address and price lists.

Frequently updating useful information on your website, gives your customers a reason to continue to return to your website. It also helps to increase your ranking in search engines.

Some common elements of a web site that should be updated regularly include:
  • News items: Celebrate and share your companies achievements, changes in staff or management, or share something special about your customers or suppliers.
  • Social media: Be sure to use your website to promote and post links and feeds to your social media sites (such as Twitter and Facebook).
  • Blog: A regular blog on your website, that focuses on specific, interesting content related to your area of expertise gives consumers a reason to stay connected.
  • Images, video and other weblinks: Be sure to keep your all images, videos and web links updated and current.
Updating your website can take as much or as little time as you are willing to commit! Be sure you understand the primary purpose of your website and update information accordingly.
