Sidney RCMP issues Fraud Alert for Businesses

Posted Thursday, July 07, 2011
by Rosalind Scott

Sidney RCMP is warning Peninsula businesses to be aware of a fraudster possibly operating in the area. A Caucasian male described as, approximately 40 years of age, 5’10” with a slim build, balding on top, with bushy eye brows and a distinctive loping walk; has been targeting local businesses usually near closing time. The male is very convincing and enters the store in a frantic state. He then informs the employee that he has been in a car accident and that he needs money for a tow truck.

As far as the Sidney North Saanich RCMP is away, no offences have been committed locally, but they have received information that this person may be trying this fraud in the area. If this male does enter your store, call 911 and provide a description of the male and his last direction of travel
