Port Hardy is the northernmost community on Vancouver island, situated on the island's east coast, 498km north of Victoria and the southern tip. The town is also the terminus of Highway 19, the main route that connects communities up and down Vancouver Island. Port Hardy's main industries are aquaculture, commercial fishing, forestry and mining. The town is the gateway to the Cape Scott provincial park and offers visitors many opportunities for outdoor recreation.
