How to Create a Twitter Community

1. All social media is about interaction. Use Twitter to promote community events or initiatives, activities taking place within your place of business or a another business of interest, and the successes of friends, family, employees, other businesses or yourself.

2. “Re-Tweet” interesting messages from people in your Twitter community. For example you might write…RT @VIBBB Happy to see Accredited Better Businesses on Twitter!

3. Keep your Twitter posts interesting, unique, and helpful.
    a. Post links to web sites that other people might be interested in (which may or may not include linking to your business’ web site).
    b. Tell people about interesting community events you’re attending.
    c. Help spread the word about organizations looking for volunteers.
    d. Help people find jobs by highlighting organizations with job openings.

4. Ask questions to engage people following you or people you’re following.

5. Send direct messages (DMs) or reply to people that follow you, re-tweet your messages, or reply to you.

6. MOST IMPORTANT: Don’t make every tweet a sales pitch. You need to build your credibility among the Twitter community.

BBB is on Twitter. If you or your business uses Twitter, the BBB wants to follow you to help build your Twitter network!

Likewise, help BBB build our Twitter network. If you’re out there in the “Twitterverse” please say hello to us by replying to @VIBBB.
